Interapptive Shipment Auditing - FAQ

How does Interapptive® bill for its services?
Billing is based on a percentage of the money we save you. We get paid only when we save you money.

Do I need to use ShipWorks to use the auditing service?
No. Every FedEx® and UPS® shipment will be audited using the manifest recieved directly from your carrier. A shipment does not have to be processed with ShipWorks to be audited, and it is not required to be a ShipWorks user to sign up for the auditing service.

What is the money back guarantee?
All of the major carriers have a guarantee that if a package doesn’t arrive by the promised delivery time the shipping is free, as long as you issue a request for the refund within 15 days.

How will our relationship with our current carrier be impacted?
Your relationship will not be affected. The carriers win because they get fewer questions regarding their invoices and have a faster remittance. Also, the carriers don’t have to hire auditors to audit their billing system.

Why haven’t I received this guaranteed money in the past?
Carriers do not automatically send you refunds unless you file a claim within 15 days of the guaranteed delivery date for UPS® and 15 days of the invoice date for FedEx®.

Why should our company pay someone to audit our shipping accounts?

  • It is cost prohibitive for all but the largest companies to go through the process of auditing each package and requesting the appropriate credit.
  • We audit for late deliveries, address corrections, duplicate invoices, duplicate package charges, correct discounts, and manifested but not shipped packages.
  • Our auditing is thorough and consistent. We know how to locate common problems and correct them efficiently which in turn saves you time and money. It is probable that we will find more refunds than you could on your own.
  • Interapptive® provides numerous standard and any customized reports you request that are specific to your business that could take you hours or weeks to build on your own.
  • If your company uses multiple carriers our system can consolidate the information into a one stop shipping information system. FedEx®, UPS® or any other shipping vendor cannot make that claim. We can give you the “big picture” with the capability to drill down the details of your shipping data.

What kind of reports will my company be provided?

  • In addition to our standard reports, we will create any customized report you need, FREE of charge.
  • Package detail report—Every detail about each package.
  • Daily Shipping Activity—Summary of shipping volume for each day.
  • Cost Center Allocation Report—Shipping cost allocated to each cost center.
  • Service Type Report—Summary of service types shipped.
  • Ship to City Report—Where your packages shipped (Great marketing statistics).
  • Third-Party Usage Report—Who is using your account number(s).
  • Reference Data Report—Summary of your reference data.
  • Credit List Report—List of each credit approved by carrier.
  • Miscellaneous charges—Address correction charge, Saturday delivery charge.

How secure is our data?

  • The security of your shipping data is guaranteed and assured. All information will be used solely for our purposes of auditing. The audit agreement includes a mutual non-disclosure guarantee.
  • A secure world class hosting facility handles all of your data. The web site is running behind Secure Sockets (SSL), the same technology used as the defacto standard to ensure safe credit card transactions over the internet.
  • All sensitive shipment data is encrypted in the database using AES 128-bit encryption. AES encryption is an encryption algorithm the NSA has approved to be used as a security technique for government data classified “Top Secret”. Our own employees can’t even decipher your sensitive shipping data. Only your login has the capability to see that encrypted data.

How does Interapptive® audit our account?

  • You should ship your product as you normally do. Nothing will change within your operation.
  • Your carrier creates an electronic invoice for all of your weekly shipments and sends it to our auditing provider, VeriShip.
  • VeriShip analyzes the file through a program that checks for service failures, overcharges, and other billing mistakes.
  • We audit for late deliveries, address corrections, duplicate invoices, duplicate package charges, correct discounts, and manifested but not shipped packages.
  • VeriShip works directly with your carrier to remove those charges from your bill.
  • We send you a revised invoice which is approved by your carrier.
  • The revised invoice will have the original amount invoiced and the savings amount.
  • You pay the carrier the reduced amount as the revised invoice states.
  • You are invoiced a percentage of what we saved you.
  • If we don’t save you anything you don’t pay anything.

How much money can I expect auditing to save me?
According to the recent study published by Jeff Kline at a 2002 National Conference on Operations & Fulfillment, “5% of guaranteed deliveries arrive late each year”. Our clients average between 2 & 6%.

Which carriers is Interapptive® auditing?
Auditing is available UPS®, FedEx®, and DHL®.

Are both commercial and residential ground services guaranteed?
Yes.

Since my company hasn’t had any client complaints about a late package then why would I need auditing?
Most companies only hear about a package that is late if the customer calls. Our service lets you know exactly what your carrier is delivering and when. It is estimated that 5% of the packages you ship are late and eligible for a refund. Over time, these refunds add up to a significant savings to your company.

Why doesn’t every company do this?
Not every company audits because it is time consuming and cost prohibitive. Over 40% of Fortune 500 companies utilize a shipping audit. We make auditing possible for every company.
